Fairhaven Police Arrest and Charge Woman with OUI Liquor

FAIRHAVEN — Lt. Kevin Kobza reports that the Fairhaven Police Department arrested a woman and charged her with OUI liquor, among other charges last week, after her blood alcohol level was found to be more than four times the legal limit.

JENNIFER BISHOP, AGE 53, of FAIRHAVEN was charged with:

  • OUI Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Speeding

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, Fairhaven Police Officer Marc Darmofal was driving on Washington Street when a driver, later identified as BISHOP, was allegedly speeding in front of him.

Officer Darmofal conducted a traffic stop and through an on-scene investigation it was determined that BISHOP was driving under the influence of alcohol.

BISHOP was placed under arrest and taken to the Fairhaven Police Department to be booked. During the booking process, BISHOP took a breathalyzer test and was found to have a blood alcohol level of .324.

She was arraigned later that day in New Bedford District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
