Six officers are assigned to the Marine Unit. The unit is made up of Lieutenant Matthew Botelho, Detective Marc Darmofal, Officer Scott Coelho, Detective Guy Vachon, Officer Michael Carrette, and Sergeant Jerome Penha. All members of the Marine Unit are proud to hold Coast Guard certified Captain’s Licenses. Every member of the Marine Unit is also Jet Ski Certified as well as Lieutenant Timothy Souza and Sergeant Wayne Mello.
Our Marine Unit continues to serve as a critical part of the Buzzards Bay Task Force, ensuring emergency response and public safety throughout Buzzards Bay. We have a 31-foot LifeProof boat to our fleet. Equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technologies, this vessel enhances our emergency response capabilities and provides vital support for life-saving operations in even the most challenging conditions. In addition the Marine Unit also has a Kawasaki Jet Ski. This versatile vehicle allows us to respond to emergencies in shallow coastal areas where larger vessels may have difficulty navigating. Furthermore, as jet skis have become a growing safety concern in recent years, this addition will also aid in enforcement efforts, promoting safer recreational use of our waterways.
