Fairhaven Police Charge Man with Breaking Into Home

FAIRHAVEN — Lt. Kevin Kobza reports that the Fairhaven Police Department arrested and charged a man with breaking into a home on Tuesday afternoon.

JOHN DANGORA, AGE 35, OF NEW BEDFORD was charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering in the Daytime to Commit a Felony
  • Larceny from a Building
  • Vandalism

At approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Fairhaven Police received a call from a Sycamore Street resident who reported that his home security system alerted him to the presence of someone inside his house.

The resident told the dispatcher that he could see someone walking around in his house through a video surveillance system he had installed in the residence.

When officers arrived to the house, they observed a male party matching the suspect’s description walking towards New Bedford on nearby Howland Road. He was later identified as DANGORA.

Officers detained DANGORA, who was carrying a pillow case over his shoulder with several items inside. Investigators examined the contents of the pillow case and determined that all the items inside belonged to the homeowner.

DANGORA was placed under arrest without incident.

Through the subsequent investigation, it was determined that DANGORA allegedly gained access to the residence by forcing an air conditioning unit out of a window.

DANGORA was arraigned in New Bedford District Court Wednesday morning.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
