The K9 Division consists of Officer Jillian Jodoin and her partner K9 Blue. K9 Blue is an American Black Labrador Retriever. K9 Blue is certified in Narcotics Detection. Officer Jodoin and K9 Blue are assigned to the Patrol Division and frequently assist Fairhaven Detectives, local area agencies and federal agencies. Additionally Officer Jodoin and K9 Blue can be found out in the community, in schools, at parks, and performing demonstrations.
K9 Blue is the first Fairhaven Police working dog since 1981. Officer Richard Kendall handled the first working dog back in 1980-1981. K9 Caesar served as a deterrent and peacekeeper due to ongoing disturbances and demonstrations at Union Wharf. K9 Caesar was eventually utilized by Marion Police Department and later Wareham Police Department, where he served the remainder of his career.
Officer Jodoin and K9 Blue attended a 400 hour Police Detection Dog Academy in 2021 and maintain over 190 hours of training annually. Additionally, Officer Jodoin and K9 Blue maintain a yearly United States Police Canine Association Narcotics Certification. The certification serves as a National certification rating of excellence in Narcotics Detection.
