Fairhaven Police Charge Two Women Following Pursuit
FAIRHAVEN — Lt. Kevin Kobza reports that the Fairhaven Police Department arrested two women on several charges following a pursuit this afternoon.
SHERRI MASSE, AGE 33, OF NEW BEDFORD was arrested and will be charged with Shoplifting. Additionally, MASSE was wanted on a pre-existing warrant for Unarmed Robbery.
JEANNINE VICKERY, AGE 45, OF NEW BEDFORD was arrested and will be charged with:
- Shoplifting
- Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (two counts)
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident (two counts)
- Resisting Arrest
Additionally, VICKERY had a pre-existing warrant for her arrest for Resisting Arrest and Larceny. VICKERY will also face several motor vehicle related offenses, including Operating With a Suspended License.
Just before 3 p.m., Fairhaven detectives observed a tan 1993 Toyota Camry parked in the fire lane outside Marshall’s, 6 Fairhaven Road.
A query of the vehicle’s registration indicated that it had been reported stolen. When the detectives attempted to stop the car the driver, later identified as VICKERY, fled, allegedly striking an unmarked police cruiser and a marked police cruiser in the process.
The vehicle fled northbound on Alden Road into New Bedford, and was eventually stopped near the intersection of Seabury and Carlisle Streets.
VICKERY and MASSE were then taken into custody, though VICKERY was resisting officers attempts to arrest her and ultimately had to be subdued with a stun gun.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded stolen merchandise and drug paraphernalia.
There were no injuries as a result of the crashes, pursuit or arrest.
Both women were booked and transported to the Ash Street Jail in New Bedford, and are scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in New Bedford District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
